I Hate New Design

2026-05-29

This was transcribed with minimal fixes. Expect a lot of drunk talk and incoherent arguments, so feel free to laugh at me.

This is just completely unacceptable. I don't even know where to begin. Look at all the fucking UI changes recently — you know, Firefox Nova, Gmail, Google Drive. Like, what are we doing here? All of a sudden in 2026, everything is about having gradients and being 3D. Why are we doing this? Three years ago, every single motherfucking company — Google, Microsoft, Firefox — everyone changed from their cool 3D logos that actually meant something to flat ones. And sure, I've already accepted that. I've already accepted the fact that all of these companies decided, all of a sudden, that they're gonna pull out their dicks and hammer them flat. I have already accepted that over the course of these past few years. And now you're telling me in 2026 we're going back to fucking 3D logos? What the fuck are we doing? What the fuck is Firefox Nova? What the fuck are these new logos? They look like shit. They look awful. You gave me 3 years to get accustomed to the fact that you have a hammered, flat dick, and now you're telling me you took an air pump and you're gonna fucking inflate your dick again? Like, what are we doing here? What are we actually doing here? Can you not just stick to one thing?

Like, I get it — it's a fucking cycle. Okay, we go to 3D, then to glassmorphism, then to flat, and then to all the weird fucking geometric shapes — sure, okay. I know it's gonna happen, but I'm not happy with it. I'm really, really not happy with it. I hate these UI changes with every bit of my soul.

Firefox used to have a fucking identity. It used to be boxy, it used to be 90 degrees, it used to be sharp, and it didn't have fucking AI. I was happy with that version of Firefox. But oh hell no — Mozilla has to add fucking AI everywhere in the most shoehorned way possible. Like, the "summarize page" button, to this fucking day, is still the default button. That thing sucks ass. It stands out like a fucking sore thumb. It does not fit, okay? And then what do they do? They make all the tabs round, they change the address bar — everything's round all of a fucking sudden. And then all of a sudden — oh no — we're changing the Mozilla logo from the fox to orange stripes around a purple ball. What the fuck is that? That is not Firefox. That is NOT Firefox. What it is, is you playing with your balls. And I don't fucking care, but do that on your own time. I don't want to see it.

But no, okay, sure — I've accepted that. I've accepted all of that over the years. But now what are we doing again? Firefox Nova. What the fuck is Firefox Nova? It sucks ass. It sucks major ass. I can just tell someone vibe-coded the entire fucking UI in like half an hour. Everything about it sucks. Firefox used to have a fucking identity — now what are we doing? Now Firefox's only identity is copying Google Chrome. Can we stop that? Can we stop that? I hate the rounded edges. I hate that everything is like fucking small and tiny, okay? Stop it. Stop it. I don't care if this is some sort of elaborate euphemism for the fact that Mozilla has a flattened, small micro-penis — I don't care. What I care about is that they are fucking butchering the UI and they're not giving me the option to turn it off.

If it was just Firefox Nova — if it was just a UI nightly build — then fine. But no, they put it in the stable build. They've put this new and improved shit-ass UI — the new tab UI — into the stable build. What the fuck are we doing? It sucks ass. And you know the only way to turn it off is through about:config. Half the fucking user base doesn't know how to do that unless they explicitly Google it. Why isn't this a fucking toggle? It should be a toggle, not a default change, okay? I upgraded to version 151 expecting security updates. You know what I see? I see that "we at Mozilla just used Claude Mythos to fix all the fucking bugs because we are too incompetent."

I don't even know what they spend all their time doing. My only guess is that they're writing emails telling all the people unfortunate enough to have given them their email addresses to donate to Mozilla. I think that's the only thing they've been fucking doing. They have not improved the security of Firefox (this is just false, I was really mad and a little drunk so ignore it), the UI/UX of Firefox, or anything about Firefox. And I'm not even talking about the mobile versions. The iPadOS version of Firefox is shit. The iOS version is shit. The Android version is less shitty, but it still has a mountain of bugs that they just absolutely neglect to fix. There is no reason that they should be doing this. I get that they're primarily Google-funded by using Google search as their primary search engine — sure. That doesn't mean Google has Mozilla's balls in their fucking hands. It doesn't mean that. They can still have their own fucking identity.

I hate all of these changes with every bit of my fucking soul.
